About

Cherylle Hayes earned her undergraduate degrees in Nuclear Medicine Technology and Health Physics and became a Physician’s Assistant. This area of study peaked her interest in patient care, and she went on to earn her Medical Degree at Medical College of Georgia. While there, she completed her residency in Radiation Oncology. While Dr. Hayes has interests in several areas of oncology, she is particularly interested in breast cancer treatment, cancer survivorship and quality-of-life issues, such as eating healthy and maintaining a consistent exercise program.

Dr. Hayes has researched and published information on gynecologic oncology issues and a book chapter on pain management. Locally, Dr. Hayes has served on the boards of several community organizations including the American Cancer Society, the Advisory Board of Gainesville Health and Fitness and the Gainesville Theater of Performing Arts. She also participates in local and national societies including ASTRO, ACRO, AMA and the American Brachytherapy Society. Prior to coming to the North Florida Radiation Oncology Team, Dr. Hayes served at the University of Florida as an Assistant Professor. Watch this video to hear from Dr. Hayes herself.

Dr. Hayes is also very concerned about a growing number of women diagnosed with cancer in one breast who choose to have the other breast removed even though, in their cases, doing so is not medically necessary. Watch this video for more on this story and the concerns Dr. Hayes raises.
